WEDNESDAY 23RD SEPTEMBER | 3PM - 4PM | FREEWHY TRYING TO 'LIVE YOUR BEST LIFE' MAY BE REALLY BAD FOR YOUContrary to the prescriptions of most self-help gurus, setting goals to change how we are, may actively keep us stuck. Trying to change our lifelong patterns through an act of will is inevitably doomed to fail more often than not. The things we often do to self-sooth are likely to entrench those habitual patterns even more firmly.
Every trait that we humans possess, inevitably has a strength but also a shadow side. Ancient wisdom and modern psychology would say that it is only by accepting and appreciating how our traits both serve us and constrain us that we develop the ability to change. This, trying to focus purely on the best version of ourselves may be inherently self-limiting. Given the global discombobulation over the last few months, and the constant bombardment of self-help messages that most of us have experienced, it is critical to reflect on what is helpful and what is not. In this broadcast, Coaching Psychologist and Famn Co-Founder, Roger Taylor, will be joined by Author and Psychological Coach, Hannah Ciepiela, to explore consider an alternative approach. Who is this for? This workshop is for all who are concerned with their own wellbeing. Anyone who has ever tried to follow a self-help initiative or improvement programme (including diets) and have been frustrated with their lack of success. |

THURSDAY 30TH JULY | 12.30PM - 1.30PM | FREEIMPOSTERS, DRAMAS, FIGHTING & FLEEING: A Psychological exploration of difficulty at work.Relationships are what make all our teams, groups and organisations tick. However, all too often our relationships can get out of kilter, especially when the pressure is on. These difficulties are likely to be further amplified by our new, virtual work of only connecting with each other remotely.
In this broadcast, Coaching Psychologist and Famn Co-Founder, Roger Taylor, will be joined by Author and Psychological Coach, Hannah Ciepiela, to explore some of the reasons why our relationships can go wrong. Seeking to deepen our awareness of the part our habitual patterns play and why we can sometimes behave in ways that get us more of what we don’t want. This session will explore a few different psychological models to help us understand what’s going on when things are awry, including, the Drama Triangle and Imposter Syndrome. Who is this for? Anyone who is curious about themselves and their impact on others. |
